The official statement from Facebook reads “Dark mode for WhatsApp offers a fresh look on a familiar experience. It’s designed to reduce eye strain in low light environments. Android 10 and iOS 13 users can enjoy the dark mode on WhatsApp by simply enabling it in the system settings. The users on Android 9 need to follow the below steps to enable WhatsApp dark mode.

• Open Settings and choose Chats
• Tap on Theme and then select dark.
